Position: IT Support Engineer

Location: Aberdeen/Central Belt

Chess IT is an Aberdeen based IT support company with a requirement for a full-time permanent IT Support Engineer with relevant experience to join their existing team. The company is continuing its expansion into the Central Belt with a requirement for weekly visits to that area; therefore the opportunity exists for the post to be based in the Central Belt with regular visits up to Aberdeen. Duties will involve onsite visits to client offices as well as providing remote support and the successful applicant must be prepared to occasionally work outside of normal working hours when the situation requires.

You must have experience of working in networked service environments, involving the configuration and support of MS Windows 2003/2008 server system software, MS Exchange 2003/2007, XP & Vista desktop OS’s, and software applications such as MS Office 2003/2007, Symantec Antivirus & Backup Exec. A sound understanding of networking technologies such as Cabling Infrastructure, IP Protocol, DHCP, DNS, Switches, Routers & Firewalls is essential, as well as an ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair server hardware, desktop PCs, laptops & printers. Knowledge of email and web technologies is also desirable.

Educated to HNC or equivalent in a computer related subject, you should ideally be qualified or studying toward Microsoft MCP/MCSA/MCSE.

The successful candidate should have a confident and professional customer facing approach and be able to work on their own initiative.

Salary is negotiable and is dependent on level of experience.

A full Driving License is required.
